Body specifics:
First generation Mustang was produced from 1964 to 1973. In the big picture the first generation Mustang has been recognized as the first pony car. In other words - it was a small light weight vehicle, which was affordable two door sports car with rich equipment.
The first generation Mustang had many changes during it's lifetime in body styling. Besides being named as the first pony car, is it concidered to be the first AWD passenger car. Officially in 1965 three Mustang prototypes were rebuilt from 2WD to 4x4. Was it really the first passenger car with so called AWD, is disputable, since in 1957 a first Soviet small passenger car, Moskvitch 410, was produced, which was also with 4x4 chassis and it also feature a bigger ground clearance than the regular version (Mustang's ground clearance was the same between 2WD model and AWD model).
But that was not all from "the first car" section. Those AWD Mustangs also featured anti-lock braking system (nowadays ABS), that was not used on cars at the time. Unfortunately the system wasn't reliable enaugh and it didn't reach massproduction phase. Despite that, it can be called the predecessor to car ABS systems.
Equipment:
Standard Mustangs were with 3,3L R6 engine and three speed manual transmission, bucket seats, convinience lighting, one sigar lighter with ashtray, sunvisors for driver and passenger, jacket hooks and two sided keys (it was possible to insert the key both ways).
Optional equipment included air conditioner, turnsignals in the hood (for the driver), cruise control, front disk powerbrakes, tinted windos (including windshield, electric clock in the dashboard, painted rally stripes, vinyl roof, hubcaps, wide tires, whitewalls, AM/FM radio, sport seats for the rear passengers (2+2 configuration), full with bench in front, tilting steering wheel (when opening the driver door to ease access), center console (only with radio), two tone hood, powersteering, tachometer (only with V8 engines), LSD differential and four speed manual gearbox.
